Travel: Mauritius a piece of paradise

There’s nothing like sailing around an island on a boat across crystal blue water and with the sun beaming down on you.  Vacations are always the medicine we need to refresh.  Here are a few scenes from my trip to the Island of Mauritius.  I was so relaxed shooting photographs was not at the top of my list, but here are a few shots I captured when I did remember to pick up my camera.

The day couldn’t end without an ice cream!  Even the local dogs agreed with me on that one.

2012 has officially set sail!

We’re at the end of the first week of the New Year and 2012 has truly set sail! So albeit slightly late, I want to wish all my blog followers a wonderful 2012.

After spending 3 weeks out on vacation I had plenty of time to relax, reflect and set a few goals for this new year, as well as define a theme.  I do this every year.  It’s going to be an exciting one, both personally and professionally and I’m raring to go. Stay tuned as I have a few new projects to share with you and a big announcement 😉 !

Personal: A peek into Paradise

There is something about white sandy beaches and crystal blue waters that makes you go “hmmm!”  In the middle of all the madness there’s nothing like an unexpected break away from it all.  Mauritius was the destination and oh my, it really made me go “hmmm”! Here’s a peak…more to come.

Lifestyle: Bollywood Star “Just Becuz”

It’s been a while since I’ve done any lifestyle portraits.  A couple of weekends ago, I met up with my client, Bolly, on a Saturday afternoon, drove around town till we found a good spot for a quick portrait session, had lunch and then went about the business of shooting. It was a totally awesome way to spend a Saturday afternoon and escape the hustle and bustle of Lagos, even if for a just a few short hours.  Below are a few of my favs from the shoot. Enjoy!

…and as much as I love black & white images, here are two of my favorite colour images from the shoot. Can you say “fabulous”?

News Flash: FotogrAffi on DSTv Sat April 9, 2011 – tune in!

Finally after a false alarm 3 months ago, fingers crossed, you can watch out for me in my 2nd TV debut on….Through the Eyes of an African airing tomorrow (FINALLY!) Saturday, April 9th, 2011 @6:30 p.m. (Nigeria time/GMT) on DSTv/MAGIC WORLD AFRICA aka Channel 112.

A few months ago I joined a group of fab female photographers on a road trip to Osun State, Nigeria to cover the Osun Osogbo festival.  It is an annual fertility festival held at the Osun Sacred Grove a World Heritage site, that receives global media attention and a slew of international visitors.  While we were out shooting, we were tapped on by Yvonne Bassey, presenter and producer of the show Through the Eyes of an African on DSTv and interviewed.  As camera shy as I try to be, it was not my first TV appearance. I appeared as an extra on a British TV series “Hi de hi” that was filmed in my home town of Dovercourt, Essex in the 80’s and well, it was then that I knew someday I was gonna make it big. Ha! Ha!  Anyway, for those of you in Nigeria, who will be stuck at home due to the election curfews tomorrow, tune in!

A note from the producer – Join Yvonne Bassey once again as she leads you into the mysteries of the Osun State sacred grove in a compelling documentary titled Ajodu Osun Osogbo. Be our guest (and mine too 🙂 !)

A shot of me prepping for my interview courtesy of my colleague – Yetunde Ayeni-Babaeko.  Really, where’s hair and makeup when you need em?
